Anchorage Logistics Marketplace (ALM), initiated by Anchorage International Airport (ANC), is a digital platform for stakeholders (airlines, forwarders, importers, exporters) to trade services. It marks the first phase of a next-gen cargo community system in Anchorage.

Kale, a UN award winner in trade facilitation platforms for airports and ports, offers marketplace and airport cargo community platforms. They are committed long-term partners, investing in and fostering growth.

While many price discovery portals exist, they are not marketplaces. ALM aims to offer capacity visibility and function as a multi-modal marketplace for sea-air and road-air movements. It plans to evolve into a comprehensive cargo community system, unlike rating portals. ANC will provide various services like e-AWB, e-DO, e-PoD, e-Bill of Lading, e-Certificate of Origin, tracking, digital corridors, warehouse, and GHA rates.

The ALM pilot phase will focus on only air cargo and visibility of aircraft capacity to other carriers and forwarders out of Anchorage. We aim to provide features such as posting loads, viewing requests for quotes, quotation responses, online price negotiations, auctions etc.

We aim to have stakeholder workshops and incorporate their inputs in the solution. Once we are ready with the complete system; we will hand-hold the stakeholders through the pilot transactions after training them.

Provide your inputs on the product. Get trained and test the product for pilot transactions. We anticipate about 10-12 hours of commitment during the pilot phase from your commercial / sales department.

Absolutely not. The airlines can decide to market their distress capacity or full capacity. It’s their choice.

Key benefits include optimal capacity utilization leading to increased revenue, enhanced cargo yield and ton-mile efficiency through aircraft capacity transactions, and optimized fuel consumption. Additionally, ALM offers benefits such as real-time e-bookings, access to a large market, opportunities for multi-modal integration, and a centralized document repository

Absolutely. The airline can provide APIs or accept standard CAR-IMP messages. However, during the pilot phase, we recommend using the ALM portal and use upload features of the portal.

Our timeline includes a 6-month pilot phase followed by a 6-month commercialization phase, contingent on participant input. Subsequently, we intend to expand into multi-modal marketplace applications and evolve into a comprehensive airport cargo community system over 2-3 years, guided by stakeholder feedback and interest.

Extensive cargo ramp

The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) has a large cargo ramp near the center of the airport. The ramp has 11 parking spots for wide-body aircraft. The ramp’s central location makes it easy for cargo planes to taxi to the parking spots, receive service, and then depart.

  • High-capacity forklifts – With lifting capacities of up to 60,000 lbs, these heavy-duty forklifts can handle heavy pallets and containers with ease.

  • Pallet movers and dollies – Specialized electric pallet movers and heavy-duty dollies facilitate the smooth movement of palletized cargo within the warehouses and on the ramp.

  • Ground support equipment – A fleet of powerful tug tractors and pushback tugs safely maneuver aircraft within the cargo ramp, ensuring efficient loading and unloading operations.
